1) How are documents scanned and indexed?

Documents are indexed automatically as they are scanned or “dropped” into the ImageLink repository.

  • Documents are scanned from a workstation where Dynamics GP is active.
  • When a document is scanned, the contents of the fields of the Microsoft Dynamics GP screen are used as index keys.
  • The automated indexing also applies to non-scanned documents that are dropped into ImageLink’s Drop Zone.
  • The index keys for a document are stored in the table “xIMIndex” within the Dynamics GP application database.

2) What Microsoft Dynamics GP database tables are modified by ImageLink?

None, decease ImageLink stores information regarding specific document images in the ImageLink table “xIMIndex” within the application database. This is not a standard Microsoft Dynamics GP table. “xIMIndex” is created as a step within the ImageLink installation process.

5) How does ImageLink relate to the 10GB limitation for Microsoft Dynamics GP?

It is stated that Microsoft Dynamics has a 10 GB file size limitation for storage . Are ImageLink’s documents stored in the same database, or would they be stored in a separate location?

The actual documents (scanned and imported) are stored within a directory structure. That directory can be on any drive that is available to the network (not necessarily the same drive that contains Microsoft Dynamics).

The index information is stored within an SQL database. This does not have to be the same database that is used by Microsoft Dynamics.

Therefore, it is viable to install ImageLink without impacting the space requirements of Microsoft Dynamics.

6) Can ImageLink run in a Pervasive SQL environment?

No, ImageLink requires the Microsoft SQL environment.

7) What support is required within Microsoft Dynamics GP for ImageLink?

Nothing special. The system does not need the customization site license to use the ImageLink modifications.
